Privacy Policy

When you create and use an account, you may provide:

• Account information: your name, email address, and restaurant name.
• Business data you log: nightly sales, covers, labor hours, food spend, comps/waste, delivery sales, and any notes you add.
• Invoice photos you scan, and the vendor/date/total we extract or you enter from them.
• Staff and schedule information you enter about your own employees: names, roles, emails, phone numbers, hourly wages, and shift schedules. This is your data about your staff, entered by you -- we use a staff member's email solely to deliver their own shift schedule to them.
• Settings you configure: target labor/food percentages, weekly fixed overhead, store hours, and similar preferences.

We use standard, essential cookies to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers, and we do not currently collect browsing behavior beyond what's needed to run your session securely. We don't currently respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals, since we don't use the kind of cross-site tracking that setting is meant to address.

• To provide the Service: storing your logs, generating insights, running your schedule, and processing invoice scans.
• To send you account, service, and (where applicable) scheduling emails.
• To process subscription payments.
• To respond to support requests.
• To maintain and improve the Service, including diagnosing technical issues.

When you use a feature that generates AI insights (for example, nightly insights or invoice scanning), the relevant business data or photo is sent to our AI provider to generate that result. We don't use your data to train any AI model, and this processing happens only to produce the specific result you requested.

We share information only with the service providers that make MarginAssist work, and only as needed to provide the Service:

• Payment processing -- we don't store your card details ourselves.
• Database and file storage -- for your account and business data.
• Email delivery -- for the emails the Service sends (account emails, recaps, alerts, schedules).
• AI-generated insights -- generating the insights described above.
• Error monitoring -- so we can catch and fix bugs. Configured to exclude invoice, vendor, and other business data from error reports.

We may change which providers we use for the above at any time. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of MarginAssist or others.

If MarginAssist is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify you if this happens and your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Some emails (like weekly recaps, silence reminders, and margin alerts) can be turned on or off from your account settings. Every email we send includes a way to manage your preferences or unsubscribe.

We only use strictly necessary cookies -- the kind that keep you signed in and your session working correctly. We don't use advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

Your data is stored with our database provider, Supabase, using industry-standard security practices, and is generally stored on servers located in the United States. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

We keep your account and business data for as long as your account is active, so the Service can keep working the way it's supposed to (year-over-year comparisons, history, and similar features depend on this). If you close your account, we'll delete your data within a reasonable period afterward, other than what we need to keep briefly for backups, legal, or accounting reasons.

You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and associated data, at any time by emailing support@marginassist.com. We'll confirm and complete deletion requests within a reasonable time.

If you're a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law, including the right to know what personal information we've collected about you, the right to request deletion, and the right to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. We don't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of on that front. You can exercise any of these rights the same way as anyone else -- by emailing support@marginassist.com.

The Service may occasionally link to third-party websites we don't control. This Privacy Policy doesn't apply to those sites, and we encourage you to review their own privacy practices before providing them any information.

MarginAssist is a business tool intended for adults running or managing a restaurant. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you, such as by email, before they take effect.
